Anyway a couple of months ago she said she'd like to see a proper ballet. I've always had a hankering to see Swan Lake, mainly because I had a biography of Anna Pavlova as a kid, but it wasn't on so I bought tickets for Madame Butterfly, my favourite opera, instead.
The tickets looked quite good on the internet but they were nosebleed seats, the first thing S said was "you do know I'm scared of heights!" And I wished I'd thought to take binoculars but it was fine, I did remember my glasses at least.
Aside from all that I absolutely loved it, it was very beautiful and if they made any mistakes I certainly wouldn't have noticed it from way up there. I think S enjoyed it, and her relief that there was no opera singing was palpable. I kept hoping Kiri Te Kanawa would be doing a cameo but she didn't show.
Not sure if she will want to go again but I will be looking out for Swan Lake for next time.

ohhh seriously, swan lake is a must, it's my absolute favourite! We've seen three ballets of it, the national ballet, the queensland ballet, and ... i can't remember! I badly wanted to see the russian ballet when they came, alas!
The best was the swan lake we saw at the opera house in sydney. amazing, and what was special was that it was played by a live orchestra which you COULD SEE!!! not a pre-recorded set. ahh. Its definitely a classic, I'll continue to go see swan lake for the rest of my life, and take the kids every chance.
I also gotta get out and see more than just swan lake though lol haha.
My youngest daughter is keen on dancing she is always saying "when me is dancer..."
I have only seen one ballet too, nutcracker. Throughly enjoyed it.
Rolley if Swan Lake comes to Sydney come down & I'll go with you. There was an orchestra at Mme Butterfly too - just brilliant.
Jason my daughter wants to see the Nutcracker too, I guess it is one that kids know they will enjoy.
I'm an utter ballet addict, love it, glad you enjoyed it :)
