I am still missing Honeybum, she was a very striking golden presence amongst my mainly black and white chooks, but I am cheered by the fact that my new Brahma baby looks like being a girl.
How cute is she?
It has been an up and down week in the chook world, I've been looking after my neighbours chooks as well, there is a gate from my pen to their garden, so I just go back and forth between them. With the horrendous rain we had over the weekend the gate swelled up and I was not able to close it properly. Yesterday while I was at work, it obviously started to dry out and shrink back to normal. When I got home the gate was wide open and half my chooks were investigating next door and upsetting the residents no end. After some Benny Hill type antics, I managed to persuade them to come home.
This morning, when I went out to say hello, I thought to myself I really do have too many chooks. You guessed it, the neighbours chooks had escaped from their pen and come to return the visit. Actually I do have too many chooks but I was at least able to reduce the number instantaneously this morning.

how funny - we're looking after our neighbours chooks this week too!
and yes - I also often imagine benny hill music when I'm chasing them around in circles :)
Cute chick greenfumb! :) Benny Hill is indeed the themetrack I have running in my mind as I watch the bok flock play in the yard...crazy creatures!
LOL!! You've just gotta love them :)
That is a cute chick. I love the feathery feet. A what a great story.
Hi Greenfumb, Thanks for stopping by my Blog. I think your new bub is very cute, what do you think you will name "her"?? Also I have benny hill playing for the chooks but "mission impossible" for the bunnies!! It can get very confusing ;0) Have a great weekend, Yollie
Hi Yollie,
I call her Lucky Chick because she was the only one that hatched from 12 posted eggs.
Hey Greenfumb :) Thanks for your comment. Have new cunning cow plan. Kids school presently has 2 steer (for ag club or something) I reckon we could sneak in a milker, no one would notice, and I could milk it after drop-offs :)
Good grief, is this school in Sydney?
Ok so we'll go halves on the cow, you milk it after school and I'll do weekends.
