Challenge Update

Sowing Seed

Not a huge amount of progress in the garden but the Fenugreek seeds are up already.  Last year they all failed so I think the mini greenhouse is definitely earning it's keep.  It should also have the advantage of protecting the seedlings from bugs, snails and escapologist chickens.

Working for the Future

Bad light again, must remember to take photos earlier in the day.  Above is the fence where the Wisteria used to be, the fence was collapsing so we have covered it up with some Natureed.  In front of that is the pile of chicken made compost that will be home to the two kinds of pumpkin seeds I planted yesterday - Red Kuri and Golden Nugget.  I was going to plant Butternuts too but the seeds were very dusty and papery so I think they would have failed.  Must order some more, I love butternut squash.

And here are the broad beans powering away now that their patch gets more sun.  The chooks got in here very early on and dug about half the seeds out so the crop will be small this year. Poor hubby, it's his favourite vegetable.

Not much else to report on the garden, most of the weekend was spent getting rid of wisteria twigs and preparing the outdoor furniture for spring time.

Planning for the Future

Need to order all the tomato seeds, I forgot when I got the other delivery.

Building Community

Went to a quiz night at the football club as part of our annual fundraising activities. (came 4th so we weren't totally disgraced this year)

No new skills acquired this week I'm afraid.

We look like getting a lot less broad beans too down here, strange co-incidence my hubby also loves them and hangs out for them. So much tastier home grown then those grey rubberised things my mum used to serve up.

Your photos give a lovely ethereal light to your garden. A lovely place to be in.

Thanks Aussiemade, that's very kind of you but I think I might need to read my camera manual. A lot of my photos are over exposed and in theory my whizz bang digital SLR should be able to cope.
