Back to Basics and Back to Work

Sowing Seed or Planting

Filled up the new beds with: lettuce, Chinese broccoli, wild rocket, cucumbers, beans, potatoes
Planted comfrey for the chooks

Maintenance

Staking and tying drooping tomatoes
Picking off damaged fruit (the weather is playing havoc with the tomatoes)

Planning for the Future

Ordered my autumn/winter seeds from Diggers Club

Working for the Future

Pulled out beans and prepared kitchen garden for autumn/winter crops
Divided irises and replanted ready for next spring

Building Community

Sharing excess eggs and veges with friends

Learning New Skills

Attended Staff Development Day on Choice Theory and Building Positive Relationships
Trying to make buttonholes - not very successfully so far, even with automatic buttonholer!

OK, can you tell me how to keep my coriander alive? I can grow pretty much anything, but coriander just looks at me and lies down :(

you're right Rhu it's very tricky, it tends to bolt if it's too hot so you need to keep sowing seeds all the time, and buy slow bolting seeds to start with. I now have a Mexican or perennial coriander to fill in the gaps when the normal one is misbehaving. It is actually easier to grow it in the winter in Sydney - where are you?
